About Cavalier Excavating
Cavalier Excavating is a family-owned and operated contractor based in Michigan, specializing in hydro excavation, utility daylighting, slot trenching, and excavation support services across Southeast Michigan.
With over 100 years of combined family experience in underground utility work, Cavalier was built on a foundation of loyalty, hard work, and doing right by the people we work with. Those values continue to guide how we approach every project today.
As a signatory contractor with IBEW Local 17, we support construction and utility teams working in environments where precision and safety are critical, especially around existing underground infrastructure. Hydro excavation allows crews to safely expose buried infrastructure while reducing risk compared to traditional mechanical excavation methods.
Our focus is simple: protect what is already in place, communicate clearly with project teams, and help keep work moving safely without unnecessary risk or delays.
Why the Name Cavalier?
The name Cavalier reflects the values our company was built on — loyalty, consistency, and standing behind the people we work with. Inspired by our family’s longtime connection to Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, the name represents a commitment to reliability, trust, and tradition both on and off the job site.
